Stormwater Qualified Inspector Training (SQuInT)
Permitted (Environmental Resource Permitting; ERP) stormwater systems in Florida are required to be regularly inspected by a qualified inspector. Inspections must be conducted by qualified registered professionals or certified qualified inspectors. The UF/IFAS Stormwater Qualified Inspector Training (SQuInT) was developed to meet this certification requirement.
This training is recommended for city and county government employees, facilities maintenance personnel, landscape maintenance professionals, landscape architects and designers, city planners, county planners, land managers, and others looking for professional development in environmental sustainability or wetlands ecology.
Individuals who successfully complete the Stormwater Qualified Inspector Training requirements will gain:
- 5-Year Certification – qualified to perform inspections of ERP-permitted stormwater systems.
- Increased Knowledge - understand stormwater runoff systems, GSI, and protocols for inspection and maintenance.

The SQuInT course is provided online. It can be taken at your own pace, using a computer or mobile device. The cost is $100.
- The course consists of approximately 8-12 hours of content, including:
- 10 lecture modules with practice quizzes
- 5 field demonstration modules with practice quizzes
- 10 Interactive activities to apply the knowledge gained
- Certification exam
After successful completion, the Stormwater Qualified Inspector Certificate is available to download.
